Where is it?
Our Support team needs to enable this feature for you. |
Once enabled, you’ll create and manage short links from the Configure tab. Choose Event Settings:
Ways to use Short Links
You can shorten the links to any of the public web pages for your event, such as:
- Attendee and Company registration pages
- Attendee and Company login pages
- Invitee registration page
- Your event’s site page
- Validation pages for any integrations you're using.
You can access these links on your event's Reference Links page.
In addition, if you upload files to MeetMax, you can also create a Short Link for each file.
What does the link look like?
Short Links let you inject some branding, and make the link easier to read. For example, here’s a default link to an Attendee registration page:
Your shortened version will look something like this:
Setting your subdomain
While our Support team is enabling Short Links for you, they’ll set your custom subdomain.
This subdomain appears on all short links you create for any of your MeetMax events. Choose a subdomain that’s specific to your organization, but able to be used across multiple events.
You can have us change your custom subdomain at any time. That will update all of your existing short links to the new subdomain. Keep in mind that this change takes up to 24 hours to process, and it will break the previous versions of those links. |
Creating a Short Link
- Step 1. Head to the Configure tab. Choose Event Settings, then Short Links:
- Step 2. Add an Alias for this link. It’s the segment that comes after “meetmax.com.” Your alias should give your participants an idea of what the link will deliver:
-
An alias can’t have any spaces. It can only include letters, numbers, underscores and dashes. - Step 3. Paste in the Long URL you’d like to shorten.
- • Here’s how to get the URLs of your event’s public pages.
- • Here’s how to get the URL of an uploaded document.
- Step 4. Click Save.
- Step 5. Let’s test your new short link. Click Open and make sure the correct page opens:
-
If you have multiple events in MeetMax, you can create short links from any of them. All of the short links you create, regardless of the event, are available on one list. You can access this list from any event.
Getting the link to share
Once you’ve created the short link, there are two ways to grab that new URL to share.
Option 1: Right-click
On the Short Links page, head to the link you need. Right-click on Open.
Your browser will open a menu, where you’ll see the Copy Link option. After copying, you can paste the link anywhere you need it.
This menu might look a bit different than above, depending on the browser you use. |
Option 2. Open the link
On the Short Links page, head to the link you need. Click Open - that opens the link in a new tab of your browser:
Then you can head to that tab. Highlight and copy the URL from the top bar of your browser:
Editing or reusing a Short Link
You can always edit an existing short link to use it for something else. For example:
- You’ve uploaded a new PDF, and you want to point it to an existing short link.
- You have a short link for last year’s registration page, but you want to point it to this year’s registration page instead.
- Step 1. Head to the Short Links page. Locate the link you need and click Edit:
- Step 2. Paste the new Long URL into the form. It needs to be a unique URL - if you’ve uploaded a new document to MeetMax, for example, it has to have a different file name than the original:
- Step 3. Click Submit.
-
It can take up to 24 hours for the new version of your link to be available for use. This is because of the time it takes for information to update on many servers across the internet.
Deleting a short link
You can delete short links by clicking on Delete:
If you’ve already shared this short link, keep in mind that deleting it from MeetMax will break the link.
